Dennis Goodwin volunteered for the RAF in the Second World War, serving with Air Sea Rescue in the Marine Craft Section in Burma and the Far East theatre of war. His post-war career was as a director in local government, and in his spare time he played football, rugby and cricket well into his 60s. He founded the World War One Veterans Association in 1986, taking servicemen on pilgrimages to France and Belgium as well as organising reunions throughout the British Isles. He has dedicated the past 22 years to keeping alive the memory of the generation who gave so much for their country.
