Ones to Watch this Year
Happy New Year from all at Isis and Soundings! With a new year comes new audiobooks and we have got lots of exciting titles coming your way throughout 2019. Here's a little preview of what we're looking forward to.
A new Jill Mansell is always a joy for the new year. Coming in February, Maybe This Time is a lovely country romance, full of the author’s trademark warmth and wit. Mimi isn’t looking for love, but will the right time and place make the difference? And I can’t wait to listen to the new Sarah Hilary novel, coming a little later in the year. The latest in the Marnie Rome series, this was an outstanding read, and with Imogen Church at the helm, it’s sure to be a fantastic listen. For series fans, poor DS Noah Jakes is put through the wringer in an emotional instalment.

Next year I’m most looking forward to our publisher’s selection of CWA Diamond Dagger winner Michael Connelly’s Harry Bosch titles: meticulously constructed crimes that lead you through Connelly’s nihilistic Los Angeles with the city’s greatest cop, Harry Bosch, guiding you through the killing, conspiracy and corruption. And all this made even better with William Hope’s impeccable narration, perfectly capturing the righteous anger, deep sorrow, and love for his city that so often engulf Bosch.

If you liked The Chalk Man, you will LOVE the new novel from C. J. Tudor. The Taking of Annie Thorne is even darker and wonderfully creepy. You'll be thinking about it long after you stop listening with Richard Armitage as narrator. Claire Askew is also an exciting new voice. All the Hidden Truths explores the lives of three different women in the wake of a horrific crime. It's moving and utterly compelling. On the Soundings list there are new novels from saga favourites Anna Jacobs, Katie Flynn and Nicola Pryce. There will be more British Library Crime Classics as well as more romances in collaboration with Choc Lit. I'm particularly excited about their Search for a Star competition and unearthing new talent.
