Maggie was born in York, but brought up in Cyprus where she began her broadcasting career in Forces Radio, having trained as an actress and worked for a spell in the professional theatre. After returning to England, she worked for BBC and independent local radio stations throughout the country and then, while bringing up her young family, branched into voice training and voiceovers: she is, most notably, the voice for the national mental arithmetic S.A.T.S. tests. Since also worked for several years as a community announcer at Yorkshire Television in Leeds, now part of the Granada Media Group.
