Peter Tonkin was born in Northern Ireland, the eldest son of a Forces family, and was raised in the UK, Holland, Germany, and the Persian Gulf. he is married with two sons and has recently retired as the Head of Law at the Wildernesse School in Sevenoaks. He has written thirty novels including twenty-two Richard Mariner novels.
