Christian Millar spend her childhood on her father's estate in the Highlands of Scotland, where she was educated - somewhat erratically - by governesses. After her father died her mother took her to live in London where she became first a debutante and then, at the start of the 1939-45 war, a fitter in an aircraft factory. She finished the war in the Ministry of Production. She has written short stories, which have been translated into seven languages. She lives with her husband near Newbury.
