Synopsis
Rose has taken up painting with oils, which is why she’s out alone at the old mine shaft when she hears a scream. The police can find no trace of an unwanted visitor and so DCI Jack Pearce is furious with her for wasting police time.Meanwhile a small circle of artists in the Cornish town of St Ives are deeply shocked by the murder of one of their models, Jenny Manders. Police suspicions soon fall on Nick Pascoe, Jenny’s ex-lover and the last person to see her alive. But much to Jack’s dismay, Rose has been seeing Nick and when he becomes the prime suspect, Rose falls under suspicion.
Matters are made worse when a skeleton is found in the mine shaft and Rose finds herself at the centre of two murder inquiries.
