Synopsis
When I was three I was stung 172 times by a swarm of angry, demented bees. And as my mother said later when my head, face and neck had returned to a reasonably normal shape, "It was all your own fault".
In this evocative memoir, Roderick Grant recalls the laughter, tragedy and drama of a boyhood spent in Morayshire in the late 1940s and 1950s. Against the backdrop of some of Scotland’s most beautiful scenery, he not only re-creates the experiences that moulded his early life but also paints a vivid picture of a remote country community, close knit in its isolation from the changing post-war world.
