Constable on Call
Even amidst the rural calm of the North York Moors, the lives of both PC Nick Rowan and his doctor wife, Kate, are eventful. Both are continually on call, whether it be from an irate Claude Jeremiah Greengrass, furious that a ruthless local bigwig has taken a pot shot at him, or from a woman about to give birth on a snow-bound farm, a woman whose violent ex-convict husband - not the father of her child - is steadily making his way through the frozen countryside towards her…
