Crime & Mystery
Synopsis
'I swear by almighty God that the evidence I shall give shall be the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.' About as much hope of that, reflected Judge Matthew Chaytor, as finding icicles on the equator. He watched the witness put down the testament and the card from which he had just read the words of the oath in a thoroughly bored tone. The young man in the dock was accused of killing a man by reckless driving, and subsequently failing to stop or report the accident. But the judge, both counsel, the jury and even the police were faced with a number of small discrepancies that didn't seem exactly to fit the charge. The truth, when at last he comes upon it, proves to be something quite different from what the witnesses have led the court to believe. Quite different - and much, much more sinister. You May Also Be Interested In...
