Crime & Mystery
Synopsis
In 1885, the new craze is Spiritualism. All over fashionable London there are strange manifestations: dim lights, voices from the ether, flying oranges and disembodied hands that tweak ladies' dresses. But while the well-to-do Proberts and their friends investigate life beyond the veil in their Richmond house, other hands steal an erotic painting. It is the human mystery that brings Sergeant Cribb into the picture - plus an electrifying murder. You May Also Be Interested In...

Herring on the Nile - L. C. Tyler
In an effort to rejuvenate his flagging career, novelist Ethelred Tressider embarks on a "research trip" to Egypt. No sooner has the cruise on the Nile begun, however, than events quickly unravel: an attempt is made on Ethelred's life; the boat's engine explodes, and a passenger is found murdered. As the boat drifts out of control, suspicion falls on everyone aboard - including Ethelred.
