Crime & Mystery
Synopsis
For one terrible moment it seems that the house fire in Bessemer Street has taken the lives of two young Polish children. However the fire brigade discover only the body of a man, and definite signs of arson. DS Gil Mayo sets his young colleague Abigail Moon to work on a murder enquiry. Meanwhile, Inspector Martin Kite looks into a brutal attack on the elderly wife of the local vicar. There are signs that Mrs Haldane had company before she was attacked, but with nothing stolen from the vicarage Kite’s not sure whether he’s dealing with a random act of violence or a deliberate act of vengeance. Neither of Mayo’s detectives is making much headway until a stolen art treasure leads them both to the same path, one which takes them from Poland to wartime England and on to present-day tragedy. You May Also Be Interested In...
