Synopsis
Elizabeth Manton is the new matron of the Royal Hospital. Determined to change the hospital and the lives of those within it, she turns the Royal into a smouldering cauldron of pent-up desires, all hidden beneath the discipline of hospital routine.This disquiet begins to affect all at the Royal, including James French, a married consultant with whom Elizabeth rekindles an affair. When tragedy nearly occurs, Elizabeth is forced to review her position.
