War
Synopsis
There are over 36,000 Great War memorials in Britain. They stand beside main roads, at the corners of town squares and by village churchyards - name upon name of those that gave their lives in battle. But who were they? Neil Oliver realised that the stories of these men were fading. The lists stand as a call for remembrance, but we are forgetting. As he explores some of the war memorials of Britain, Oliver tries to uncover the stories of the men commemorated. As he does so, he reflects on the nature of remembrance, discovering the impact the Great War had on British society and the echoes that can still be felt today.Latest Additions
