Synopsis
Fran and her step-cousin William spent an idyllic childhood at Benedict's, Fran's grandfather's house in Old Swithinford. Now widowed, Fran is hankering to go back to home ground when she learns that Benedict's is up for sale. While overseeing it's restoration, Fran renews old acquaintances and forms new ones: in particular with the mercurial Johanna, an outsider whose behaviour is disapproved of among the villagers. With her city sophistication and modern ways, Johanna proves to be a catalyst for change in the village. But it is Fran's relationship with William that takes on a new dimension, and although they are drawn ever closer, William's unhappy marriage forces them to face a profound moral dilemma . . .Latest Additions
