Adventure
Synopsis
In the Great War, the Royal Navy operated some 200 dirigibles - non-rigid airships - primarily in protection of coastal shipping. It was very effective but often extremely hazardous for the pilots. Charlie Holt is one of the best. He's a highly skilled and experienced airshipman, though inclined to be reckless, and not only in the air. There's Amanda, a former girlfriend whose husband has been killed, and a barmaid in Great Yarmouth - and many others . . .
And now, on a different basis altogether, there's a Belgian girl named Hilde, who has vital information and the Germans on her heels. All Charlie has to do is put his ship down safely behind enemy lines and wait while his passenger, a major in the Royal Marines, finds Hilde and winkles her out. On the face of it, that's all he has to do.
