Synopsis
A new novel of Pern
Young Kindan longs only to join his father in the mines of Camp Natalon. Mining is fraught with danger, but the camp is fortunate to have a watch-wher, a creature distantly related to dragons and uniquely suited to the specialised work. But when disaster strikes, Kindan is orphaned and the camp loses its watch-wher. When he is selected to hatch and train a new watch-wher, his new friend Nuella is there to help. As warring factions threaten to explode, Nuella and Kindan discover hidden talents in the watch-wher - talents that could very well save an entire Hold.
