Synopsis
The follow-up to The House by the Brook
Living with her domineering mother-in-law, Marjorie, married life hasn't been easy for Hope Murton. Finally, though, Hope manages to persuade her husband, Ralph, to move them into Badgers Brook with their small son, Davy. After a tragic accident leaves Ralph confined to a wheelchair, he takes the only way out he can think of, leaving Hope destitute. Determined not to depend on Marjorie, she turns to friends, including local trader Peter Bevan, and manages to build up a dressmaking business. Meanwhile, Hope’s brother- in-law returns to the area and tries to have her evicted. It is only through Peter's intervention that her security is assured and she can finally find happiness.
