Karin Slaughter bagged the best thriller story of the year for her dark, gritty novel Cop Town and was awarded the CWA Ian Fleming Steel Dagger.

The judges praised the characters as, “instantly real, engaging well-drawn and convincing, helping the reader to be pulled through this dark and twisted story to the very end."

Michael Robotham was awarded the CWA Goldsboro Gold Dagger for the best crime novel of the year with his compelling and fascinating novel Life or Death.

The CWA John Creasey (New Blood) Dagger for the best crime novel from a debut author, was awarded to Smith Henderson for Fourth Of July Creek.

Robert Galbraith, Belinda Bauer and Mick Herron were also among the shortlist and attended the awards ceremony at Malmaison in London.
